Paul Linderholm(1947 - 2014)

Linderholm, Paul A.

Paul A. Linderholm, 67, died Sunday, May 4, 2014 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield from kidney failure.

He was born January 8, 1947 to Colonel and Marjorie (Brinkman) Linderholm. He was born and raised in Eau Claire, WI and graduated from Memorial High School in 1965. Paul was a driver's license examiner for the state of Wisconsin, beginning his career in Milwaukee and ending in Marshfield after 36 years of service and over 50,000 road tests.

He met Christy Hanson in Eau Claire in 1969; they were married May 15, 1971 and moved to Marshfield. They have two daughters- Kara Linderholm (Steve Heathman) of Chippewa Falls, and Beth (Nathan) Franklin of La Crosse. He also has two grandchildren, Lucy and Henry Franklin.

Paul enjoyed the outdoors all his life, especially hunting and fishing. Some of his most memorable experiences were pheasant hunting in South Dakota with friends and his dogs, in particular Belle, his American Water Spaniel. Since he was a child, countless summer weekends were spent with family on Axehandle Lake at the cottage near New Auburn. Paul co-founded the Marshfield Bass Club, was a member of the Medford Gun Club, Marshfield Trap and Skeet Club, the Elks Lodge, and Eagles Club. He and Christy were members of a special group of four couples, affectionately known as Card Club, for over 40 years. Paul and Christy's omnipresent generosity came full circle at the end as the many friends and neighbors who over the years became family returned the favor with innumerable acts of kindness and unending support.

Paul was very appreciative of the myriad of medical professionals from Marshfield Clinic and St. Joseph's Hospital, especially the caring staff at Northridge Dialysis Center, where he received treatments for four years. The family would like to extend special gratitude to Dr. Gui, his medical assistant Jodi, Sarah Mutschlecner, and the Palliative Care staff who provided exceptional and compassionate care. A special thank you to Pastor Tricia Turner of Faith Lutheran Church who provided peace and comfort to him and his family.

He is survived by his mother: Marjorie (Butch); siblings: Jane Linderholm, David (Joyce) Linderholm, and Mary (Greg) O'Reilly, all of the Eau Claire area; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father: Colonel; in-laws: Marvin and Ruby Hanson; and a son-in-law Brian Wright.

Services will be held at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home (1010 E Veterans Parkway) in Marshfield, WI.
