Percy Schroeder, age 80, fell asleep in the arms of Jesus at home on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at home in Marshfield. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, July 15, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Marshfield. The Rev. Chris Schwanz will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM- 7:00 PM Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home (1010 E. Veterans Parkway) in Marshfield and again from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church on Monday. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
Percy was born January 31, 1933 to Alvin and Martha (Werner) Schroeder in Madelia, MN. He was educated in rural MN schools and attended High School in Milwaukee, WI. In 1949 they moved to the Lindsey area where they began farming. Percy entered the United States Army
in 1953 and served his country proudly in the Korean War
. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1955.
In 1968 Percy took a job with Rollohome. On May 10, 1969 Percy was united in marriage to Charlene Schallock in Chicago, IL. Percy continued working for Rollohome until the business closed. He went on to work for Hewitt Meats in Lindsey until retirement. In his retirement Percy worked at the
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and going for long walks. He especially enjoyed traveling with his wife through 48 states and 14 countries.
Percy was well liked by everyone he came in contact with and he was always willing to lend a helping hand.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Charlene; his children, Lori (Nathan) Rusert, and Kelly (Christopher) Bunkelman; 7 grandchildren, Kristin (Lance) Halverson, Joshua Rusert, Timothy (Grace) Rusert, Jonathan Rusert, Rebekah Rusert, Brianna Bunkelman, Bailey Bunkelman. He is further survived by 2 great grandchildren, Seth and Elijah Halverson; 2 sisters, Virginia Nelson and Verona Guinn, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Percy is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Martha, brother and sister-in-law, Alvard and Marge Schroeder; sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Mike Milligan; 2 brothers-in-law, Elmer Nelson and Clellon Guinn.
