Virgil F. Mancl 89 of Marshfield died on Monday morning, December 10, 2012 at the Wells Nature View
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am Monday, December 17, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Marshfield with Fr. Sebastian Venni officiating. Burial will be in St. Kilian's Cemetery in Blenker with Brian, Christopher and Dustin Mancl, Scott Morgan, Mike Hoffman and Randy Pittelko serving as pallbearers.
Visitations will be from 4-7pm Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Rembs Funeral Home and again on Monday from 9:30am until time of service. There will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary service at 6:30pm Sunday evening at Rembs Funeral Home.
Virgil was born on June 7, 1923 in Blenker to Frank and Lillian (Hook) Mancl. His first marriage was to Margaret Hoffman and she died in 1948. He then was united in marriage to Gertrude A. Strigel on June 18, 1949 in Wisconsin Rapids. Gertrude died on May 14, 2010.
He was raised in the Blenker area and owned the family farm until 1956 when they moved to the City of Marshfield. While farming, he worked at Roddis Plywood and Weyerhaeuser Company for over 40 years. before retiring from the sanding department. He drove milk truck for over 20 years, painted area homes and barns and did landscaping work.
Virgil was a member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW
Auxiliary Post 1866 of Marshfield and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Badger Aerie NO. 624 of Marshfield.
He is survived by his children, Peter (Marilyn) Mancl of Hewitt, Raymond (Kathy) Mancl of Luxemburg, Terence Mancl of Hewitt, Kenneth (Kathy) Mancl of Marshfield, Patrick (Ann) Mancl of Marshfield, June (Jim) Young of Wisconsin Rapids, Margaret (Dennis) Hoffman of Chippewa Falls and Linda Mancl of Atlanta, GA; 15 grandchildren Brian (Kim) Mancl, Scott Morgan, Dustin Mancl, Samantha Mancl, Allison (Jon) Cornelissen, Heather (Scott) Karbon, Lindsay (Jeremy) Meissner, Kim (Mike) Johnson, Amanda (Luke) Franssen, Chris Hoffman, Mike (Penny) Hoffman, Jenny Hoffman, Randy (Shelly) Pittelko, Christopher Mancl, and Elizabeth Mancl; 16 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. He is further survived by brother Gordon (Adeline) Mancl of WA, and a sister-in-law Irene Mancl of Nekoosa.
Besides his parents and wife Gertrude, he was preceded in death by a son Roland, daughter Mary, grandson Matthew, daughter-in-law Patricia Mancl and a brother James Mancl.
