ALVIN L. DAHL, age 77, of Loyal, died on Friday, February 14, 2014 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at York Center Methodist Church, rural Granton. Rev. Patsy Roe will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Cook, Dean Hoesly, Paul Bugar Jr., Jesse Zvolena, Tom Bobrofsky, Rod Bixby, Steve Rowe and Brad Rowe. Honorary pallbearers will be George Brenner and Jim Schecklman. Visitation will be held at the church, on Tuesday, from 12:30pm until time of service.

Alvin Lee Dahl was born on May 23, 1936 in the Town of York, rural Granton, the son of Edward and Verla (Rowe) Dahl. He was raised on the family farm and received his education in the Town of York, graduating from Granton High School in 1954, and then completed the farmer's short course at U-W Madison. Al raised purebred Yorkshire Hogs on his hobby farm, and cash cropped sweet corn for the Canning Factory in Loyal. In 1965, he began working for Tony Zupanc, at Zupanc Motors in Loyal, as a bookkeeper and parts clerk. He was united in marriage to Genevieve "Jean" De Santo on November 27, 1974 in Illinois. Al purchased Zupanc Motors in 1987, and the school bus service in 1989. He later sold the Ford dealership to Jensen Motors in Spencer in 1994. Al continued to operate the school buses until selling the business to Branstiter's Bus Service in 2010. He drove bus until the spring of 2011. Al entered Neillsville Care and Rehab in April 2012 and resided there until his death.

He was a lifetime member of York Center Methodist Church, served as president of the York Center Cemetery Association for 40 years, and was one of the organizer's of the West Side Community Park in Loyal.

Al had many interests, but especially enjoyed fox hunting, fishing with his sons and grandsons, attending his grandchildren's sporting events, being with his family and playing cards.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Jean, of Loyal; his children: Sue Ringquist ( Gary Forgeon) of Pocatello, ID, James (Lisa) Ringquist of Black Creek, WI, Dawn Ringquist of Wausau, David (Deanna) Ringquist of Black Foot, ID; one daughter-in-law: Cynthia Ringquist of Plano, TX; 12 grandchildren: Shannon, Kade, Jessica, Andrew, Blake, Micah, Terrell, Laurie, Megan, Nathan, Bryan, Ali; 4 great grandchildren: Allison, Ansley, Gabriel, Ryu; one sister: Hazel Miller of Clintonville; 2 step sisters: Jeanette Steiner of Granton, Margie (John) Eid of Wonewoc; one step sister-in-law: Katie Hales of Granton; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Al was preceded in death by his parents; one son: Greg Ringquist; one daughter-in-law: Jane Ringquist; one grandson: Samuel Ringquist; one brother-in-law: William Miller; two step-brothers: Bert Hales and Norman Hales; and 2 step-sisters: Evelyn Dudei and Marie Hillert.
