Anna Mae Brungardt, 85, of Aurora (Denver), Colorado passed away quietly on August 1, 2013, at the Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lone Tree, Colorado after a brief illness.
Ann and her twin sister, Rosa Lee, were born in Oklahoma City, OK on May 29, 1928, the daughters of Ebert and Orene (Fuller) Boson. She grew up in Marshfield, graduating from high school in 1946. Ann then worked on Melvin R. Laird's State Senate campaign before attending the Spencerian Business College in Milwaukee. In 1947 she moved to Denver to join her sister and found work as a nurse's aide at the Lowry Air Force Base hospital.
She married Alois "AI" Brungardt on Jan. 22, 1949, in Denver. In 1950, Ann and AI moved to the Marshfield area where they ran her grandfather's farm (near Chili) before returning to Denver in 1957. Ann was a doting mother and housewife. She loved to travel and looked forward to their many family trips. Later, she often accompanied her daughter, a travel agent, on cruises and other trips.
Ann is survived by her daughter Kerry (Doug) Thompson; grandchildren: Shane Haliw, Tessa Baca, Kim Brungardt Jr., Michael Brungardt, and Shad Haliw; great-grandchildren, Brittany Brungardt, Alexis Brungardt, Keara Romero, Danielle Brungardt, Dominique Romero, Jaden Haliw, Bradley Haliw, Nicholas Brungardt and Michael Brungardt, Jr.; and two great-great-grandsons, all of Colorado. Three brothers, Jerry (Marlie) Boson, Lyman (Shari) Boson, and Glen (Pat) Boson, all of Marshfield, also survive, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ebert and Orene; her husband,AI; sons, Michael and Kim; twin sister, Rosa Lee Smith; and her husband, Robert "Smitty"; and a sister-in-law, Sherry (Glen)Boson.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 13, at Olinger Highland Mortuary, Thornton, Colorado.
