Ardis D. Greunke, age 85, of Milladore, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the House of the Dove in Marshfield. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 14, 2013 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Auburndale. Rev. Mark Lundgren will officiate. A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, September 13, 2013 at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home (1010 E. Veterans Parkway) in Marshfield and again from 10:00 AM until the time of services at the church on Saturday. Burial will take place at Brooklawn Memorial Garden Cemetery in the town of Richfield.
Ardis was born January 27, 1928 to Ewald and Rose (Hermann) Freeck in Medford, Wisconsin. She graduated from Medford High School and went on to attend college in Eau Claire. On November 13, 1948 Ardis was united in marriage to Richard Greunke in Medford. Ardis worked as a bookkeeper in the cheese making industry and went on to become Vice President and Treasurer of Maple Grove Cheese in Milladore.
She was an active member of St John's Lutheran Church in Auburndale, where she was a Sunday School Teacher and an organist for over 25 years. Ardis enjoyed gardening, reading, and music of all types. Those that knew her best will miss her warm spirit and her love of family.
Ardis is lovingly survived by her husband: Richard; children: David Greunke; Steve (Cindy) Greunke and their children Shawna, Megan, Joshua; Mitch (Carolyn) Greunke and their children Brittany, Kristin, Jacob; Rosanne Greunke; Scott Greunke and his children Jessica, Bradley, Holly; Alan (Joan) Greunke and their children Kyle, Jordyne, Brett; Sandy (Doug) Keuntjes and their children David, Heidi, Michael; Kathy Greunke; and Sara (Gary) Moses and their children Emily and Claire. She is further survived by her great grandchildren: Austin, Logan, Jacey Schulfer and Matthew Ritter. She will truly be missed.
Ardis was preceded in death by her parents: Ewald and Rose Freeck; and sisters: Claudia and Nora.
