Carol A. Heckel, 83, Marshfield, died on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at House of the Dove, Marshfield.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, May 6, 2013 at Christ Lutheran Church, Marshfield. Rev. Daryn Bahn will officiate and music will be provided by Mary Castner as organist and Randy Christiansen as soloist. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Mike Watson, Mike Kope, Edward Robert Lieber, Dennis Leonard, Cody Pemberton and Robert Lieber. The visitation will be held at Christ Lutheran Church on Monday from 11:30 am until service time at Christ Lutheran Church. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Carol was born on March 27, 1930 in Marshfield to Louis and Dorothy (Greenwald) Thom and attended Marshfield schools. She Married John W. Meyers in 1945 and they later divorced. She married Robert E. Heckel on August 27, 1968. He died on July 9, 1995.
Carol had been employed at Roddis Plywood and later at the Hotel Charles and the Uptown Bar as a cook, waitress and bartender.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Ladies Aid and a former member of the Marshfield T.O.P.S. club. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking and baking but fishing was her passion.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Dawn (Virgil) Christiansen of Marshfield and Nancy (Karl) Tauer of Hiles. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Michael (Dawn) Watson, Kimberly (Mike) Kope, Edward "Robby" (Tracy) Lieber, Kelly Anne Lieber and Dennis Leonard, 8 great grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren. She is further survived by a sister, Lois Yost of Stevens Point.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, a brother, Mike Thom and a sister, Dolores Heckel.
