Emma M. Zawislan, 89 of Stratford died on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the House of The Dove in Marshfield.
Funeral services will be 11am Monday, February 4, 2013 at Christ Lutheran Church in Marshfield with Revs. Daryn Bahn and Mark Krueger officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield with her grandchildren serving as pallbearers.
Visitations will be from 10am Monday at the church until time of service.
Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Emma was born on May 6, 1923 in Marathon County to Louis and Margaretha (Deschner) Oertel.
She attended schools in the town of Day, Marathon County. On November 14, 1942, she was united in marriage to Ben F. Zawislan in Mosinee. Ben died on August 16, 2005.
Emma was a nursing aid at St. Joseph's Hospital while farming with her husband Ben. They were also owners of Das Spiel Haus and the Rondivoo Tavern in Stratford for many years. She also was the cook at the Labor Temple in Marshfield. She enjoyed gardening, card playing and board games.
She is survived by three children, Bonnie (Jeff) Martin of Ellijay, GA, Leonard (Lenore) Zawislan of Spencer and Dale (Rose) Zawislan of Pittsville; 17 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband Ben, she was preceded in death by her great grandson Tyler Zawislan, siblings, Louis, Walter and Robert Oertel, Elizabeth Kellner- Hill and Eva Wallman ; 4 half-brothers, Emil, Karl, Enard and Fred Ortelle.
