Kohlbeck, Geraldine L.

Geraldine L. "Gerri" Kohlbeck, 75, Marshfield, passed away with her husband and children by her side on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at the House of the Dove, Marshfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Marshfield, with Rev. Samuel Martin officiating. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery at a later date. Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday at Rembs Funeral Home and on Saturday from 9:30 am until service time at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A rosary service will be held at 6:30 pm on Friday at the funeral home.

Gerri was born on March 26, 1939 in Marshfield to Manley and Marie (Weister) McCulloch and was a 1957 graduate of Auburndale High School. She met Roger Kohlbeck, the love of her life and future husband, in 4th grade and they were married on August 9, 1958 at St. John's Catholic Church, Marshfield. They recently celebrated 56 years of marriage.

Gerri had been employed at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory from 1957 until 1963, then at Figi's from 1967 until 1982 and at Karau's Warehouse from 1982 until 1999 when she retired. Gerri enjoyed traveling, crocheting, embroidering, sewing and an occasional trip to the casino. She crocheted countless granny afghans for her children, grandchildren and others. She also crocheted baby hats and lap covers for the hospital after her retirement. She also delivered Meals on Wheels with her husband, Roger and her sister, Donna for many years. Her greatest loves were her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Roger, and their children, Debbie (Mark) Kroening of Arpin, Vicki (Lee) Williams of Pittsville, Gary (Vicki) Kohlbeck of Hawthorn Woods, IL, and Connie (Gregg) Greenwald of Marshfield. She is also survived by grandchildren, Troy (Lindsey) Kroening, Tara (Dan) Grossman, Tami (Jordan) Griffith, Traci (Alan) Burkart, Juan (Jen) Murillo, Jesse Williams (Dani O'Neill), Luke Williams, Makala Kohlbeck, and Kerenna Kohlbeck. Her great grandchildren include Lucy, Caspar, and Josephine Kroening, Derek, Brooke, Kailyn, Alleah and Tyler Grossman, Kaylee, Teegan and Scarlett Griffith and Paolo Murillo. She is further survived by a sister, Donna Kappel and a brother-in-law, Jack Curtin, and brothers and sisters-in-law from her husband's family, Donna and Harold Anderson, Bob and Molly Kohlbeck, Harold "Coke" and Barb Kohlbeck, Janet and Al Diers, Marilynn and Paul Zimmermann and Pat and Tom Verkilen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Manley McCulloch and his wife Lee, her sisters Doris Curtin and Carol Heintz along with her husband Lawrence Heintz, a brother-in-law Dennis Tesmer, and two great-grandchildren, Angel and Hope Kroening.

Memorials may be designated in her name to the House of the Dove, Marshfield.
