James Brandt Obituary

Brandt, James O.

Age 84 of Stratford, formerly of Marshfield passed away on Sunday May 7, 2017 at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday May 24, 2017 at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Stratford with the Rev. Sengole Vethanayagam officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery with military honors conducted by the Stratford VFW Post 6352. Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 AM until time of services. The honor of pallbearer will belong to Hunter and Hayden Brandt, Michael Weeman, and Michael Steingraber.

Jim was born February 1, 1933 in the Town of Eau Pleine in Marathon County, the son of Walter and Alma (Schallock) Brandt. He entered the United States Army in 1950 and faithfully served his country as a paratrooper during the Korean War assigned to the 82"' Airborne Division. Jim was united in marriage to Mary Jane Kann on September 29, 1954 at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Stratford. He was employed in the building construction trade later working as a courier/driver for the Marshfield Clinic System until his retirement at the young age of 81.

He was a member of Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Stratford, The Stratford Lions Club and The John Eisen Council of The Knights of Columbus in Marshfield. Jim was also a past Commander and a very dedicated and longtime member of the Stratford VFW Post 6352.

Jim enjoyed walking, bean bag toss, watching Badger/ Packer football, or perhaps teaching his family members the art of "standing on your head" which Jim was the master of. Most of all Jim cherished his family and the time he spent with them. Jim and his wife spent almost 63 wonderful years together. His children remember how dad was mom's set of eyes because her eyes were starting to fail and mom provided her ears for dad as dad's hearing was starting to fail.

Survivors include his wife Mary Jane Brandt of Stratford, his four children: Kerry (David) Pickett of Orrville, OH, Beth (Todd) Dahlke of Mosinee, Mike (Jane) Brandt of Stratford and Paul (Renee) Brandt of Wausau; his nine grandchildren: Michael, Amanda, Laura, Andrea, Hunter, Hayden, Emily, McKenzie and Olivia; two great grandchildren: Aislyn (Peony) and Dylan along with other relatives and many friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Donald.

The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses, especially Dr. Nirujogi and her assistant Kris, and the Staff of Atrium Acute Care for the wonderful care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family and will be designated in Jim's name to numerous charities that were meaningful to him.
