Joseph L. Schillinger, age 34, of Unity died accidentally Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at his home. Funeral services will be held 11:00AM Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Unity. A time of visitation will be held from 9-11:00AM Saturday at the church. Interment of Ashes will be in the Restlawn Cemetery following the services.
Joseph was born December 2, 1978 in Wood County, Wisconsin, the son of Donald and Jean (Goldamer) Schillinger. He attended Immanuel Lutheran grade school and graduated from Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids. Joe was employed at V& H Heavy Trucks in Marshfield in the Parts Sales Department.
On June 3, 2006, Joe was united in marriage to the love of his life, Paula Bruesewitz of Unity, WI at a beautiful ceremony on Rib Mountain in Wausau.
Joe was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Unity. He enjoyed old car shows, cruises and swap meets, especially the annual Jefferson and Wisconsin Dells events with his wife and friends. Joe was especially fond of vintage vehicles much of it gained through work as a child with his father. He cherished the time he could spend with family. He was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting with his father in law. He also really enjoyed his Musky fishing outings with his big brother, Jason. Joe was a bargain hunter, a successful negotiator, always looking for a good deal. Traits he acquired while working on projects with his dad and grandpa.
Joe was a loving, dedicated and hardworking provider. He was a very talented carpenter and mechanic. He could build or repair most anything for his family and others. Joe could make any engine run and supplemented his income by selling cars, trucks, snowmobiles, motorcycles, and anything with or without an engine in order to provide the beautiful country home his family enjoyed. Joe took it upon himself to work long hours to do as much as he could to prepare the land and erect the house. He was even kind enough to build a 'kitty condo' for the stray cats that now call his homestead their own. He continued to work to improve the home with decks, landscaping and maintaining their beautiful pond. He did most of this with the help of his loving wife, Paula, and his Father-in-law and best friend, Dave, and his constant sidekick, son Brennan. He shared much of his knowledge with Brennan which is reflected in his abilities and the way he emulates his dad.
Joe's uncanny quick wit would have the whole room laughing, with just a couple well placed words.
Joe looked forward to his evenings to have his infant son, Kaden, sleep on his chest. Kaden shared an immediate bond and would smile as soon as father would enter the room.
Joe was a loving and dedicated husband, father, son, brother, grandson and friend. Joe was willing to help anyone and will truly be missed by his family and friends. Joe was a wonderful and helpful son.
Joseph is lovingly survived by wife, Paula of Unity; and two sons, Brennan and Kaden both at home, his parents, Donald and Jean Schillinger of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, brother, Jason (Monica) Schillinger of Wisconsin Rapids and sister Sara (Andrew Luelloff) Schillinger, of Milwaukee, WI, his father and mother-in-law, Dave and Sandy Bruesewitz, sisters-in-law Carla (Jeremy) Landwehr and Chris (Dave Missling) Bruesewitz. He is further survived by his maternal grandmother, Daila Goldamer of Wisconsin, Rapids, WI, his nieces Emma and Lauren Schillinger and Katie Landwehr.
Joseph is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ferdinand and Evelyn Schillinger and his maternal grandfather, Lewis Goldamer (Grandpa Louie). He was Grandpa Louie's little buddy and learned much from him.
