Leon D. Lutz, 76, Marshfield, died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 7, 2013 in the emergency room of Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, with Rev. Dan Winkelman officiating. Burial will be held in St. Michael's Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive relatives and friends at Rembs Funeral Home on Wednesday from 1:00 pm until service time.
Leon was born on November 21, 1936 in the Town of Day, Marathon County, to Herbert and Pauline (Kohlbeck) Lutz. He attended Dodge School in the Town of Day, St. John's Parochial, Marshfield and Marshfield Senior High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1956 until his honorable discharge in the Fleet Marine Force. After his discharge he returned to Marshfield and worked for Weinbrenner Shoe Factory and Weyerhaeuser Company until moving to Chicago. He was employed at Automatic Electric as an inspector of telephone equipment until 1970. He then moved back to Marshfield and worked at St. Joseph's Hospital and Praschak Machine. He later retired due to ill health.
He married Roberta Bastyr in 1967 and she died in June of 1972. He then married Sharon Neises and they later divorced.
He is survived by 3 daughters, Dawn (Chris) Campbell of Plover, Heidi (Scott) Ubinger of Wisconsin Rapids, and Shanna (Brad) Halsell of Nekoosa. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Jared, Savannah, Brenton, Dylan, Josey, Nathan, Nicholas and Jordyn. He is further survived by his siblings, Jeannette Apfel, Salva Jean "Bootsie" (James) Harris, Donna Jacobs and Carol (Dave) Elliott.
He was predeceased by his parents, 5 brothers, Elmer, Eugene, James, Merrill, and Raymond Lutz and 4 sisters, Arlene Anderson, Arvilla Ploog, Lucy Jones and Sylvia Leonard.
The family will designate a memorial in Leon's name at a later date.
