Drackley, Jr., Richard L.

Richard Lee Drackley, Jr., 82, Marshfield, died on Monday, January 6, 2014 at Bethel Center, Arpin, where he was a resident for 10 months since March 11, 2013.

The visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Buchanan / Rembs Funeral Home, Pittsville and on Friday from 10:00 am until service time at St. John's Lutheran Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 10, 2014 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Pittsville. Burial will take place in the Town of Richfield Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Thomas Sebastian, Nathan Drackley, Johnathan Drackley, Roger Christiansen, Christopher Christiansen and Dave Long.

Richard was born on June 8, 1931 to Richard and Ruby (Morrison) Drackley, Sr. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from November 27, 1951 until his honorable discharge on November 5, 1953. He married Bertha Grubofski on November 7, 1963 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Pittsville. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 7, 2013.

After their marriage Richard worked for the Wood County Highway Department, was self employed, and sold firewood and apples. He loved to garden and he would take his produce and sell it at the farmers markets in the parking lots of Festival Foods, Marshfield Clinic and in Baum's Mercantile in Pittsville. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was a volunteer for the Richfield Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha and their children, Betsy (Gerald) Sebastian of Unity, Bernie (Audra) Drackley of Pittsville, Bev (Brian) Walker of Wisconsin Rapids, Bonnie (Kevin Meyer) Drackley of Marshfield and Brian Drackley of Marshfield. He is also survived by 2 step daughters, 8 grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is further survived by his brothers Russell (Dorothy) Drackley of Arpin and Dale Drackley of Richfield.

He was predeceased by his parents.
