Robert Brandt Obituary

Brandt, Robert "Bob"

Robert "Bob" Brandt, 52, of Rothschild, Wis., died Sunday, September 9, 2012, surrounded by family at home after a three-year battle with kidney cancer.

Bob was born July 22, 1960, in Marshfield, Wis., son of the late Linus "Smiley" Brandt and Marian (Huetter) Brandt. He was a 1978 graduate of Columbus High School in Marshfield and attended North Central Technical College and UW-Milwaukee. He married Jeanette Cooley on June 20, 1998 in Wausau, Wis. He was employed as a Senior Systems Analyst at Teledyne Technologies in El Segundo, Calif.

Bob was a member of the Marshfield Knights of Columbus. He was an active bowler and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed deer and elk hunting, fishing in his bass boat, and golfing. He was a fan of NASCAR racing and Wisconsin sports teams; he faithfully followed the Packers, Badgers and Brewers. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, including his two Labrador Retrievers, Ike and Gunner, who preceded him in death. He was particularly attentive to reserving Friday night as "date night" with his beloved wife.

He was preceded in death by his father, Linus "Smiley" Brandt. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Brandt of Rothschild; mother, Marian Brandt of Marshfield; sisters, Nancy (Bruce) Brewster of Three Lakes, and Wendy (Joe) Wieser of New Holstein; nephews Mark and Adam Wieser of Beverly Hills, Calif., and Zack Hancock of Weston; nieces Erica Brewster of Three Lakes and Sarah (Scott) Reilly of Appleton.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 14, 2012, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 503 Schmidt Avenue, Rothschild, Wisconsin. Rev. Rich Block will officiate and Father Allan Slowiak of Saint Mark Catholic Church will co-celebrate. Visitation will be at Brainard Funeral Home-Everest Chapel, 5712 Memorial Court, Weston from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday and again Friday from 9:00 a.m. to the time of service at the church. I worked w/ Bob in his last job w/ Teledyne and I ran across some documentation that had his name as Author, made me remember what a blessing he was to me personally and others on our team. Wishing the family the best under the circumstances of remembering a passing that was so hard. Love and prayers go out to you.

Jeanette and family, Thank you for letting me visit on 9/3. Bob was such a fighter. There wasn't anything more he could have tried to stay here with us so I can only believe that God needed him more there. He will be missed. See you Friday.
