Swenson, Ronald E.

Ronald E. Swenson, age 84, of Marshfield, passed away on January 30, 2013 surrounded by his loving family at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Marshfield. Father Sebastion Venni will officiate. Burial will be held in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Marshfield with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post #54. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, February 1 at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Marshfield from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. The Knights of Columbus will lead the Rosary at 7:00 PM on Friday. There will also be a time of visitation from 9:00 AM until time of services Saturday at the church.

Ronald was born on January 25, 1929 in Wisconsin Rapids, the son of Clarence and Doris (Simmet) Swenson. He graduated from High School in Chippewa Falls. Ronald enlisted in the Merchant Marines and the U. S. Navy Air Force serving in the South Pacific for two years. On February 25, 1948, he was united in marriage to Arlene Weber in Winona, MN.

Ronald worked at the family cheese factory in rural Hewitt for 12 years as a cheese maker before retiring after 30 years from the Post Office in Marshfield working as a service window clerk retiring in 1990. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post #54 and the Eagle's Club. Ronald enjoyed traveling, spending time at their cottage on Pier Lake with their husky dogs, Shemya and Kushi and with his family and granddaughters.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Arlene; three children: Ron C. (Anne), Stevens Point, Lynette (Bruce) Setser, WI Rapids and Rhonda (Jeff) Anderson, Richfield, MN. He is further survived by four granddaughters: Renell (Peter) Papadakis, Mahtomedi, MN, Tonya Vossekuil, WI Rapids, Emily (Jim) Dennison, Woodbury, MN and Jhanna (fiancé, Joey Kwiatkowski) Swenson, St. Louis Park, MN; three great-granddaughters, Miah and Danica Troyer and Lauren Dennison.
