Wilfred "Bill" R. Schroeder, age 85, of Marshfield, died in His Savior's arms on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Marshfield. The Rev. Chris Schwanz and Rev. Donn Radde will officiate. Burial will be held in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Marshfield American Legion Post #54. A time of visitation will be held on Friday from 3:00 until 6:30 PM and on Saturday from 12:00 PM until time of service all at the church. The Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Marshfield is serving the family.
Bill was born on November 13, 1927 in Elgin, MN, the son of Walter and Ella (Wolfgram) Schroeder. Bill served in the U.S. Marines in the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Parker on August 9, 1948 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin, MN. In 1957, they moved to Marshfield where he worked at St. Joseph's Hospital. He retired as the Director of Radiology in 1990.
Bill was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he was an usher and served as chairman of the Board of Stewardship. He was the past president of the WI Society of Radiologist Technology, member of the American Society of Radiology Technology, member of American Hospital Radiology Administrators, Member of the Eagle's Club and a member of the American Legion and VFW. Bill liked to travel, fish and play golf.
Bill is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy; two children: Mel (Judy) Schroeder, Dexter, MN and Marcy (Ken) Wiltgen, Merrill; four granddaughters: Sarah and Laura Schroeder, Hilary and Mariah Wiltgen. He is further survived by a brother, Alton (Ardyce) Schroeder and a sister, Lucille (John) Sell, both of Elgin, MN; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ella; two brothers, Harold and Orville.
