Hollatz, William L.

William "Bill" L. Hollatz, age 93, of Green Valley, died Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at Northside Elder Estate in Stratford. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 10, 2012 at Grace Lutheran Church in Green Valley. The Rev. Darryl Kenagy will officiate. Burial will be held in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 9 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Marshfield (at our new location 1010 E. Veterans Parkway) and on Monday from 10:00 AM until time of services at the church.

William was born on September 12, 1918, the son of Fred and Minnie (Jacoby) Hollatz in Detroit, MI. He attended Phillips School in the town of Green Valley. William was united in marriage to Mildred Konop on November 7, 1951. They were later divorced. He farmed in the Green Valley area and worked for the Roddis Company both until 1957. William then worked for various construction companies as a union carpenter. He retired from Wick Building Systems in 1981.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Green Valley. He was very active in church maintenance, including starting the old wood furnace every Sunday, assisting with building projects and building the altar furniture. Throughout his life he exemplified a great inner peace knowing that Jesus Christ was his Savior. William stood on Jesus' promises and fully understood 1 John 5:11-13.

He built several houses, farm structures and machine sheds. He also enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, playing piano and accordion.

William is survived by his four sons: Arlyn (Jer Dell) Hollatz, Stratford, Eldon (Sarah) Hollatz, Auburndale, Garret (Julie) Hollatz and Aaron Hollatz, both of Marshfield; five grandchildren, Jason (Lori) Hollatz, Stacy (Tucker) York, Rochelle (Anthony) Ford, Jade Hollatz and Amber Hollatz; eight great-grandchildren, Kaylee Hollatz, TJ, Marriaye, Titus, Slatyon, Silas, Justus York and Trinity Ford. He is further survived by four sisters, Bertha Veers, Stratford, Dorothy Kreuser, Mosinee, Lynn Rogowski, Clara Miller, both of Milwaukee, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Minnie, his wife, Mildred, five brothers, Fred, Adolph, Walter, Arthur and Edward and a sister, Margaret Miller.
