Russell D. Doberstein, age 81, of Owen passed away Sunday, February 9, 2014, at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

Services will be held on Saturday, February 22nd, 2014, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home, in Abbotsford, with visitation from 11:00 A.M. to the time of service at 1:00 P.M. Military Honors to be provided by the Owen American Legion Post #123.

Russell was born to Julius and Ruth (Potter) Doberstein on March 23, 1932, in the town of Hammel, Taylor County. He received his education graduating from the Medford High School in 1950.

He then went to work for William Buehler and Armin Buehler Construction. He was a member of the Wisconsin National Guard until he entered the army in February 1953 and was honorably discharged February 1955. Russell then moved to Milwaukee and was employed at Grade Foundries as a foreman.

On July 2, 1955, Russell was united in marriage to the former Shirley Wilksman. They soon moved from Milwaukee to the town of Hoard to do what Russell loved best which was farming. Together they successfully farmed for many years until retirement.

Russell served the Town of Hoard as first supervisor for several years and as town chairman for ten years. He also served on several boards, one of which was the Owen-Withee-Curtiss fire department.

Russell was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great, grandfather, and father-in-law to his family, wife, Shirley, and three daughters: Debra Niemi, Lori (Tom) Neumann, and the late Sherri (Wally) Bogseth. Six grandchildren: Corissa (Dan Prior), Nicholas Neumann, Josh Niemi, Dustin Bogseth, Dylan Bogseth, and Brooklynne Bogseth and one great-great grandchild: Brock Daniel Prior.

He is survived by his sister Janet (Lenny) Langteau, brothers James Doberstein and David Doberstein.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Sherri Bogseth, and sister Evelyn (John) Poehnelt.
