Steczynski, Bernice M.

Bernice M. Steczynski, 86, Stratford, died peacefully on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Marshfield Care Center.

Graveside committal services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Town of Eau Pleine, Marathon County. Rembs funeral home is assisting the family.

Bernice was born on May 12, 1928 in Marshfield to the late Ben and Mary (Obernberger) Weigel and was a graduate of Stratford High School. She married Arthur E. Steczynski on February 7, 1949. He preceded her in death on September 19, 2011.

Bernice had been employed as an insurance agent until the age of 65. She then became the executive housekeeper at Marshfield Inn until she retired at the age 75.

Bernice was an avid gardener. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and many other crafts.

She is survived by 5 children, Steve Steczynski, Broomfield, Colorado, Renee (Terry) Schultz of Marshfield, Shari (friend - Gene) Steczynski, of Marshfield, Suzette (Michael) Schaefer of Marathon and Christopher Steczynski of Stratford. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 1 great grandchild expected in October. She is further survived by 2 brothers and 3 sisters, Harold "Deek" (Edith) Weigel of Stratford, Jeanette Klemme of Harshaw, Marian Drexler of Lindsey, Carolyn Hanneman of Wisconsin Rapids, and James (Mary) Weigel of Stratford.

Besides her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Nicole.

Memorials may be designated in her name to the Clark County Humane Society.
