Caroline was born May 15, 1923 in the Town of Wien. She was baptized May 20, 1923 and confirmed March 21st, 1937 at St John's ELCA in the Town of Wien. Caroline was the oldest of three children born to Arthur and Emmy (Borchardt) Lueschow. She attended Briggs School in the Town of Wien and went to Stratford High School, and then transferred to Edgar High, graduating in 1941.

She was married to Herb Passehl on December 6, 1941, the day before the attack on Pearl Harbor. They were married for 65 years, farming in the Town of Wien and later in the Town of Frankfort for thirty-six years. They retired and moved to Edgar. He preceded her in death October 20, 2007.

Caroline was known for her many acts of kindness, her wonderful gift of making others smile, and her giving to all, especially in her church. Over the years, she chaired many different offices for the church as well as fund raising events. She loved them all, including the Breakfast in the Park events, the food stands for the Edgar Steam Show, food stands for the Farm Technology Days, and the well-known Fall potato pancake dinners.

Her hobbies included quilting, dart ball, cooking, playing cards, especially Sheepshead and Smear, gardening and cake decorating, among many others. She was a member of the Women of the ELCA and the Homemakers Club. She had a great talent to fix any piece of clothing via mending socks, jeans or anything that was thrown her way.

Survivors include three children and their families: Barb (Garry) Christiansen and their children, Robyn (Marge) Christiansen and Scott (Lisa) Christiansen and their children, Steven and Derek. Ardell (Nancy) Passehl and their children, Todd (Melissa) Passehl, and Cory (Brooke) Passehl and their children, Norah, Maria and Hannah, and Amy Alt (Peter) and her children, Madison and Drew Marsshall, and Bradley (Mindy) Alt and their children, Dublyn and Bennett. Rodney (Mary Jean) Passehl and their children, Kelly (Chad) Erickson and their children, Ashley and Preston, and Tracy (Christopher) Freund and their children Kayla and Dylan, and Ryan (Ashley) Passehl. Sisters-in-law Shirley Lueschow and Laurene(George) Writz. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband Herb and her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and James (Dorothy) Lueschow.

Funeral and visitation services will be held at St. John's ELCA Church, Hwy N Edgar, Wi on Monday, July 28th at 11:00 am with a visitation on Sunday evening, July 27th from 7:00 pm-9:00 pm and before the funeral service Monday from 9:00 - 11:00 am.

A special thank you to the ambulance crew, ICU staff and Chaplain at the Ministry St Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. The special care that Mother and the family received was kind, compassionate, and supportive.

One of her favorite verses was her chosen Confirmation verse from Colossians 3:2 "Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth."

We will love and miss you forever.
