John was born on Sept. 28, 1943, in La Crosse to Leo and Gertrude (Glynn) McQuillen.

After his graduation from La Crosse Aquinas High School, John enlisted in the United State Navy, serving from Nov. 30, 1961, until his honorable discharge on Aug. 30, 1963.

John was hired by Wausau Hospital and later Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital where he worked as an orderly and later as a nursing assistant.

He enjoyed golfing, spending time with his family and friends, was an avid Brewerw and Packerw fan, loved reading military history, and also enjoyed his pets.
