He was born on July 12, 1946 to Richard and Sarah (VanHorn) Young in Oconomowoc, WI. Richard married his wife, Mary Michlig on July 30, 1966 in Halder, WI. He worked at Wick Building Systems until retiring due to illness. Richard then became a devoted grandfather taking care of all his grandchildren.

His passion for caring for others went beyond his family. Richard was a licensed Respite care provider for multiple handicap children for many years. He enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. His biggest passion was cooking, especially with his grandchildren by his side. Richard always had a smile, an open heart and a story to tell.

He is preceded in death by his father, Richard A. Young, Sr. His survivors include his wife of 46 years, Mary Young; his mother, Sarah Young; his children: Jennifer (Darren) Cooksey and their children, Amanda and Darren, Jr.; Allen (Angela) Young and their children, Margaret and Erik Young; Becky (Dan) Akey and their children, Cora, Ty and Callie and Sara (Greg) Weix and their children, Wyatt and Cody. Richard also has a great-grandchild expected to arrive in February 2013 from his granddaughter, Margaret, which he already expressed his love. He is further survived by a brother, Donald Young and two sisters, Peggy Blevins and Mary Jane Jensen; several step-brothers and step-sisters; several nieces and nephews.

His family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Okon and Julie Bohem for the care they have provided him in the last years. Also, to the staff at the House of the Dove for the wonderful care in his last days with us.

He will forever be remembered in our hearts.
