Shirley (Braun) Mattheisen, age 71, of Marshfield, died Thursday, November 29, 2012 in the Palliative Care Unit of St Joseph's Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Monday, Dec 3rd 2012 at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Marshfield. Pastor Joel Deaner-Rogers will officiate. A time visitation will be held from 4-8:00PM on Sunday, December 2nd at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home (1010 E. Veterans Parkway) Marshfield and one hour prior to service time on Monday. Burial of Ashes will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield on Tuesday.

Shirley was born on April 14, 1941 to the late Henry and Myrtle (Shaffer) Braun. She attended Spencer Elementary and graduated from Spencer High School in 1959.

Shirley was united in marriage to Richard D. Mattheisen of Marshfield, WI on July 18, 1959 at Faith United Methodist Church in Spencer. She lived in Spencer until seven years after her marriage when the coupled moved to Cedar Grove, WI, and later to Sheboygan Falls, WI where they resided for 32 years.

Shirley worked for Morning Side Nursing Home in Sheboygan as a kitchen aide for one year before going to the Pine Haven Nursing Home in Sheboygan Falls where she worked as a cook for fifteen years before semi retiring. Later she worked for Troy Laundry in Sheboygan Falls for seven years before retiring due to ill health. In 1998 the couple moved to the Marshfield area be near family.

Shirley loved playing cards, motorcycling, putting puzzles together, reading, dancing, caring for and playing with her two grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by her husband Richard Mattheisen, her son David (Gina) Mattheisen, Marshfield, two grandchildren Hailey Amber and Hunter Alec, three sisters Audrey (Ron) Rezel of Florida, Marjorie Hansen (Norman Sears) Colby, WI, and Suzanne Wozniak, Merrill, WI, several nieces and nephews and numerous good friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother Ronald Braun, two sisters Judith Hansen and Sandra Ritter, one nephew Michael Hansen, and several aunts and uncles.

A memorial will be established in Shirley's name for: The Diabetes Research Wellness Foundation.
