Daniel A. "Danny" Stauss, 79, Marshfield, died peacefully on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at House of the Dove Hospice Home, Marshfield, where the care that he received was outstanding.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 18, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rev. Sebastian Venni will officiate and music will be provided by Douglas Seubert. The Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree will form a guard of honor at the church and a grandson, Alex Williams will participate. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield and serving as pallbearers will be Jacob & Cindy Williams, Jeff & Cindy Abhold, Richie Yurkovich and Alan Meyer. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rembs Funeral Home and on Friday from 10:00 am until service time at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A combined parish and Knights of Columbus rosary service will be held on Thursday at 6:30 pm at the funeral home.
Danny was born on February 23, 1933 in Marshfield, the son of Arthur and Regina (Linzmeier) Stauss. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving from 1952 until 1956. After his military service he became employed at Wenzel's Farm Sausage, Marshfield for 23 years. He then was employed at Karau's Foods, Marshfield, until retiring in February of 1994.
Danny began his musical career at the age of 8, playing on New Years Eve in Butternut, Wisconsin. He continued to play in bands during his military service. During the following years he played in various bands and then played solo for 25 years until his retirement.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus John Eisen Council #1799. In his early years he enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. Later, he enjoyed camping and motorhome trips to Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Kerene, and their children, Steven (Terese) Stauss of Stevens Point and Krisan (Robert) Williams of Marshfield. He is also survived by 2 grandsons, Jacob (Cindy) Williams and Alex Williams and a great grandson, Adam Williams. He is further survived by a brother, Richard (Lois) Stauss of Hortonville and 2 brothers-in-law, Ronald (Helen) Kolbeck and Jon Kolbeck, all of Anchorage, Alaska and 9 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, David on March 30, 1976 and his mother and father-in-law, Marcella and Jack Kolbeck.
Memorials may be designated in his name to the House of the Dove Hospice Home.
