Shoemaker, David & Lorraine

David L. Shoemaker, 82, died at 2:06 am and Lorraine P. Shoemaker, 78, died at 8:00 am on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at House of the Dove Hospice Home, Marshfield.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Buchanan / Rembs Funeral Home, Pittsville, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 11:00 am until service time. Sister Fran Trochta will officiate. Burial will take place in City Point Cemetery.

David was born on December 9, 1930 in Eau Claire to Lyman and Clara (Lowe) Shoemaker. Lorraine was born on February 28, 1934 in City Point to Bernard and Pearl (Karolac) Shemanski. David and Lorraine were married on September 30, 1962 in Biloxi, MS and began a life together where it would take them to settle in City Point, Wisconsin. David was a veteran of the United States Army and Air Force serving during the Korean and Viet Nam Wars. He also was a volunteer for the City Point Fire Department. David enjoyed working for the Township of City Point and if you knew David you can probably remember these words "Have I Told the story…" or "Let's go for a ride around the block". David always loved sharing stories from his ventures and would never miss an opportunity to share just one more you may not have heard. Lorraine was the most happy in her kitchen. Lorraine loved baking and cooking especially when the ingredients came from her garden. Lorraine also worked for the Township of City Point and enjoyed her treasurer position greatly. David and Lorraine enjoyed the simple things in life. The moments that would brighten both their eyes were when their children, grandchildren and great granddaughter would come visit. Those memories of being together and seeing their love were the best memories of all. David and Lorraine will live on forever in our memories and our hearts but they will be deeply, sadly missed!

David and Lorraine are survived by their children, Cindy (Jack) Cole of Marshfield, Jeff (Rhonda) Shoemaker of Hixton, Ben Shoemaker of City Point, and Laura Truax of Appleton. They are also survived by 5 grandchildren, Tanya (Andrew) Woltmann, Terrance "T.J." Cole, David Shoemaker, Mikayla Truax, and Rebecca Truax and 2 great grandchildren, Brooklyn Woltmann and Kaitlyn Woltmann. David is further survived by his brothers and sisters, Jenny (Burt) Score, Caroline Russo, Bill Shoemaker, Shirley (John) Tollaksen, Bev (Terry) Kimball, Rick Reshel, Clara (Nick) Gonnering, and Herb (Jean) Shoemaker, a sister-in-law, Doris Shoemaker and a brother-in-law, Bud Herman. Lorraine is further survived by her best friend, Hallie Peaslee.

David was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers and sisters, Lyman Shoemaker, Betty Reshel, Dorothy Herrman, Susan Shoemaker, and Rodger Shoemaker. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents.
