Joan Moriarty Obituary

Joan A. Moriarty 1927 - 2013 SPRINGFIELD - Joan A. (Papas) Moriarty, 85, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Agawam. She was born in Ludlow, Ma on April 12, 1927 and was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Majowicz) Papas. Joan was raised in Ludlow and attended local schools until her parents moved to Springfield. She was a graduate of Springfield Technical High School and Bay Path College. Joan was employed at the Springfield Post Office for many years, retiring as Secretary to the Superintendent of Mails. Joan was a communicant of Mary, Mother of Hope Church. She will be remembered for her pleasant smile and willingness to help. Joan enjoyed traveling and was a great animal lover. One of her greatest joys was baking cookies during the Christmas Holidays and giving them to friends. She was a lovely lady and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Joan is survived by a cousin in Texas and many dear friends. In Joan's memory, contributions may be sent to any animal care organization or charity of the donor's choice.
