Richard Hodges Obituary

Richard A. Hodges 1943 - 2013 SPRINGFIELD - Richard A."Dicky" "Hundred" Hodges, 69, of Springfield passed away Wednesday peacefully at home surrounded by his family and caregiver. Born in Springfield to the late Joseph and Rose (Olson) Hodges. He was a lifelong area resident. He was a self employed contractor of plaster and sheetrock. He was a member of the Italian American Citizens Club in Springfield. He was an avid golfer. He enjoyed his golf, bocce, thoroughbred horses and gardening, and was an excellent cook. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sister Jane (Hodges) Bates and his brother Edward Hodges. He leaves his beloved wife of 30 years, Anita (Armstrong) Hodges of Springfield. His very much loved two mini poodles Porkchop and Lambchop. He leaves two sons William T."Billy" Coffren and Gene R. Coffren, Jr. and wife Jen all of Russellville, ARK, a sister, Donna Hodges of Springfield, a brother Steven Hodges of East Longmeadow, his sister-in-law Chris Hodges of Springfield, his caregiver Anna Seiz of Springfield, his best friend Thomas Collins of Springfield. Dicky also leaves many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Visiting hours are Monday, June 10, 2013 from 4-7pm at Sampson's Chapel Acres Funeral Home, 21 Tinkham Rd, Springfield. The funeral is Tuesday, June 11, 2013 beginning at 8:30am at Sampson's Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 am at St. Michael's Church, 110 Maple St, East Longmeadow. The burial is at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be sent to Baystate Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, 280 Chestnut St, 6th floor, Springfield, MA 01199 or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Dear Donna and Family,
I talked several times to Dicky when he called Donna at work. It's like we knew him her. I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you at the difficult time.
