Gerald "Jerry" E. Lapierre, 74, of Ludlow passed away peacefully on Thursday January 2, 2014. Born and raised in Chicopee to the late Earl and Yvonne (Gervais) Lapierre, he was a long time Ludlow resident and faithful communicant of St. Elizabeth Parish. Jerry was the former owner of Jerry's Auto Repair in Springfield, Partridge Hollow Camp Ground in Monson and Steve's Sporting Goods in Chicopee. He was a member of the Ludlow Fish and Game, where he served as Range Master and belonged to S.P.A.R.K.S radio controlled airplane club. Jerry was a car enthusiast and enjoyed rebuilding Corvettes and going to cruise shows. He also was involved with his modified race car #22 at Riverside Park. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, he leaves his beloved wife of 52 years, Joan (Barre) Lapierre of Ludlow; cherished daughters, Denise Royce and her husband Russell of Ludlow and Deborah Lapierre of Ludlow; caring grandchildren Timothy Royce, Christopher Royce, Jonathan Royce, Nicholas Lapierre, Jake Witkowski and Caden Callahan; his sisters-in-law Lorraine Curlew and husband William and Jeanette Robinson all of Chicopee, several loving nieces, nephews and extended family and friends and his faithful Yorkie, Daisy. Sadly, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law Howard Robinson. Jerry's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff, Hospice team and Clergy at Baystate Medical Center for the wonderful care and comfort they gave to him. Funeral services for Jerry will be held on Friday, January 10, 2014 from the Ludlow Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:30am followed by Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Elizabeth Church at 11:15am. Burial will be held privately by Jerry's family. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Jerry's memory to: St. John the Baptist School, 217 Hubbard Street, Ludlow, MA, 01056, or to the charity of one's choice.
