Norman Morehouse Mullings, 65, of Granby, CT passed away on Monday, (November 25, 2013) in Simsbury, CT. Born in Hartford, CT on February 3, 1948, son of the late George G. Mullings, Jr. and Charlotte King (Morehouse) Mullings, he was a graduate of Granby Memorial High School, Class of 1967 and was a lifelong resident of Copper Hill Road in Granby, CT. Norman worked at Culbro Tobacco as a mechanic for over twenty years and at Wholesale Auto Parts in Granby during his retirement. He was passionate about old engines, outboard motors, and the sales catalogues and manuals for engines. He collected thousands of engines and manuals over the years and he loved to attend collector shows throughout the Northeast. He was a member of the Antique Outboard Motor Club, the Connecticut Machinery Association, and the Hudson Valley Old Time Power Association. In his spare time, Norman also collected local post cards from Granby, Simsbury, and the Congamond Lake resorts and worked on vintage airplanes for many years. He was a life member of the Connecticut Aeronautical Historical Association and was passionate about flying. He leaves many friends in Granby and in the surrounding communities. Calling hours and a time of sharing remembrances of Norman will be held on Saturday, December 14, 1-4 p.m., at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby, CT. Burial will be private in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford, CT.
