Thomas J. Burkhardt
Thomas J. Burkhardt, 66, of Salisbury Twp., formerly of Bethlehem, died Saturday, January 12, 2013 in his home. He was the son of Joseph and Helen (Szabo) Burkhardt. Tom was a United States Navy veteran, proudly serving aboard the U.S.S, Yorktown during the Vietnam War. After working for 33 years, Tom retired in 1995 from Bethlehem Steel Company, where his friends called him Burkey. He was a member of Ss. Simon and Jude Church in Bethlehem, and a lifetime member of Citizens Hose Fire Company in Easton. Tom was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary Beth (Fistner). Survivors: Children, Melanie of Riverside, CA, Tommy, Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of Salisbury Twp; grandchildren, Jared, Alicia, Justin and Jeremy; sisters, Kathleen, married to John Crisafulli of Easton; and Mary Lou, married to Ted Crocus of Fountain Hill. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins and Lily the cat. Services: A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem. Visitation will be Thursday, from 7 to 9 p.m. and again on Friday, from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
