Eugene O. Chomicky
Eugene O. Chomicky, 84, of South Whitehall Township, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2013, surrounded by his loving family at Cedarbrook Nursing Home-Allentown. He was the husband of Georgia (Chasey) Chomicky, having celebrated 44 years of marriage. Born in Cleveland, OH, he was a son of the late The Very Right Reverend Gregory and Michaelina (Luchkiewich) Chomicky. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Allentown, where he was an ordained Deacon and Trustee. A U.S. Army veteran, he served in WWII and The Korean War. He was a graduate of William Allen High School and Penn State University, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. Gene was the Executive Vice President of the Cement Employers Association until his retirement in 2001. He was an Adjunct Professor at Penn State where he taught Labor Relations and Management. He served as a Trustee for the J.F. Kennedy Hospital in Stratford, NJ and served on the Board of Lehigh County Authority as Vice-Chair. He was Past-President of the Allentown Community Concert Association having served 30 years on its Board. He was Past-President of the Kiwanis Clubs of both Bethlehem, PA and Freehold, NJ. He was a Master Mason and a volunteer with the Freddy Awards and PBS39 Auction. He was a member of the Industrial Relations Research Association and SHRM. Gene was an avid reader, wood crafter, spent his summers in Vermont and loved rooting for Penn State Football. He was a very compassionate man who enjoyed spending time with his family and puppy dogs. He could light up the room with his smile. Survivors: In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Jodi of Allentown, Jennifer Chomicky-Brooks; and granddaughter, Ashley of Manassas, VA; sister, Elaine White of Clarks Summit. Predeceased by brothers, Yar, Myron; and sister, Irene. Services: Memorial service to be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 25, 2013, at The First Presbyterian Church of Allentown, 3231 Tilghman St., Allentown, PA 18104. Arrangements made by Trexler Funeral Home. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Cedarbrook Residents Activity Fund, In Memory of Eugene O. Chomicky, c/o Cedarbrook Nursing Home-Allentown, 350 S. Cedarbrook Rd., Allentown, PA 18104.

I had the pleasure of working for Gene when he was on the Board of Directors for the Lehigh County Authority. He was someone I could confide in, get advice from, and trust. He was a wonderful person who made a difference in this world.

We have lost a good friend. Gene was such a wonderful person, as Georgia said he had a wonderful smile. Always made you feel good to see him. We are sad that he is gone, but he is in a much better place and his suffering is now over. Our thoughts and prayers are with Georgia and the family. Rest in Peace Gene. We will miss you.
