Frank P. Mlynek, 83, loving father and husband, passed away at home of natural causes on July 25, 2016. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Frank and Helen (Hoffman) Mlynek. He was married to the late Shirley (Kline) Mlynek for 54 years. Frank worked at Lehigh Structural Steel for over 30 years. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed fishing, reading, and spending time with his loved ones. Frank was predeceased by a son, Christopher, a brother, George and a son in law, John Wasser. Survivors: He was loved by his Daughter, Sharon Wasser of New Tripoli; Sisters, Helen Fox, Margaret Fetchko, Elizabeth Fernandez wife of Raymond, Catherine and Mary Mlynek, Dolores Reed; Brothers, Carl and Edward husband of Audrey Kalady; and many other loving family members and friends. Leonard A. Mandycz Sr., of Bath, passed away peacefully on Friday, the morning of his 91st birthday, in Frackville. Born in Swoyersville on July 22, 1925, he was a son of the late Anthony and Mary (Brutko) Mandycz. A Navy veteran of WWII, Lenny proudly served on the USS John Davenport. Survivors: Surviving is his beloved wife of 69 years Violetta (Topic) Mandycz. Matthias, Richard - New Tripoli  
Richard L. "Chubby" Matthias, Sr., 81 , of New Tripoli, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2016, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital- Cedar Crest, Allentown, Pa. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Shook) Matthias, having celebrated their 20th wedding aniversary this past February. He was born in Kempton, a son of the late Robert C. and Naomi E. (Bailey) Matthias, Sr. He was employed by Lehigh County, working in the maintenance dept. at Cedarbrook, Allentown, Pa. for 16 years, retiring in 1997. Survivors: . Survivors besides his wife includes four daughters, Debra A. (Lester) Koch, Dianne R. Matthias and her husband Alex Rodriguez, both of Catasaqua, June L. (John) Tatkovshy, New Tripoli, and Joanne M.Wodecki of Lee, Mass.; a son Richard L. Matthias, Jr. and a step-daughter Krystal (Henry) White, all at home; a brother Lester C. Matthias of Wescosville; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was also predeceased by daughters Donna L. and Natalie A. Matthias and brothers, Russell and Robert C. Matthias, Jr.. Services: His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, 8405 Kings Highway, New Tripoli, Pa. 18066 , with calling hour beginning at 10:00 AM. Rev. Dr. David Charles Smith will officiate. Metz, Merle - Allentown  
Merle Anna Metz, 99, of Lower Saucon Twp., passed away July 26, 2016. She was the widow of Paul S. Metz. Born in Derry, Berks County, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Edna (Gerber) Garton. Merle was employed in various knitting mills in Shoemakersville and the Lehigh Valley before retiring. Survivors: a son: Paul S. Metz Jr., and his wife, Elsie, of Lower Saucon Twp; step-grandchildren: Robert Packard, and his wife, Karen and Almon Packard and his wife, Shari; and step-great-grandchildren: Samantha, wife of John Reynolds; and Eric Packard. Mlkvy, Robert - Palmerton  
Dr. Robert D. Mlkvy, Sr., DMD, 77 of Palmerton, PA, died Friday, July 22, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital & Health Network in Bethlehem, PA. Born February 5, 1939 in Palmerton, PA, he was the son of the late John Mlkvy and the late Margaret (Gerhardt) Mlkvy. He was the husband of Judy E. (King) Mlkvy, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage last September 4, 2015. Robert was a 1957 graduate of Palmerton High School who furthered his education by attending the University of Pennsylvania and earning a Bachelor degree in 1961. He continued at the University of Pennsylvania Dental School Program earning his DMD in dentistry in 1965. During his college years he played and excelled at basketball which earned him an opportunity to tour with the Harlem Globe Trotters through Europe and South America. He then served his country as a Captain in the US Army Dental Corp during Vietnam from 1966-1969. Returning to Palmerton after the war, he opened Mlkvy's Dentistry in 1970 and continued to practice for the past 46 years. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Palmerton, and a member of the Palmerton United Veterans Organization. He was also a known commentator for Blue Ridge Communications, as well as a motivational speaker for the region for over 30 years, known for his worn-out original High School Chuck Taylor's and Dr. Bob's Board. He coached basketball for a few years at the Middle School and Freshman High School levels. Robert has been inducted into several Basketball Hall of Fames including, Palmerton High School, Carbon County, Lehigh Valley Basketball, Lehigh Valley Sports, Big Five, and The Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. Survivors: Surviving along with his wife Judy are sons, Robert D. Mlkvy, Jr. and wife Judith-Ann of Berlin, NJ and Richard J. Mlkvy of Key West, FL. Daughters, Kerri-Lyn wife of Glenn Wheeler of Bethlehem, PA and Amy wife of Robert Bollinger of Fogelsville, PA. Brother, William Mlkvy of Newtown, PA. 11 grandchildren; Alexandria, Mackenzie, Samantha, and Danielle Mlkvy, Bryn, Tristan, Kyleigh, and Tanner Wheeler, Karissa, Deven, and Mason Bollinger. Services: A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 365 Lafayette Avenue, Palmerton, PA 18071, with the Rev. Fr. Abraham J. Valiath officiating. Interment will follow with Military Honors in Towamensing Cemetery, Palmerton, PA. The Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Avenue, Palmerton, PA 18071 is in charge of arrangements. Muldowney, Shirley - Hellertown  
Shirley A. Muldowney, 71, of Hellertown, died Monday, July 25, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. She is the wife of Larry J. Muldowney. She was born in Fountain Hill on July 30, 1944 to the late Charles Opdyke and Frances (Moser) Clement. Shirley was a receptionist at Dr. Moscato Office, Bethlehem Twp. for 5 yrs.; Cafeteria worker at SV Elementary School for 10 yrs.; and was a seamstress and retired as a Floor Lady at Dora Lee. She was a faithful member of First United Church of Christ, Hellertown who taught Bible & Sunday school, Quilters and helped with luncheons/dinners at the church. Survivors: In addition to her loving husband of 54 years; children: Mark J. (Joanne L.) Muldowney of Center Valley, Brenda J. (Joseph M.) Amelio of Hellertown; Colleen K. Yob of Hellertown; siblings: David (Judy) Moser of Richlandtown, Mary Ellen (Anthony) Nauroth of Hellertown, Connie (Frank) Rodriguez of Nebraska, Sandra Miller of Hellertown; mother-in-law: Edith L. Charles S. "Dinny" Morrison, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2016. He was born on April 5, 1922, in Easton, PA, one of six children of Raymond and Rose Shimer Morrison. He was a sergeant in the Army Air Force during WWII. Charles served as a councilman and was Treasurer for the City of Easton, retiring in 1986. Survivors: His beloved wife of 69 years, Reba (Fulmer) Morrison; daughters, Lynn Bougher and her husband Thomas, of Easton and their daughters, Jennifer White and her husband David and Julie Bougher; and daughter, Ann Morrison and her husband Steven Pitchersky, of Rancho Mirage, CA; nieces and nephews. McAuliffe, Mabel - Allentown  
Mabel "Nickie" R. McAuliffe, 71, of Lower Saucon Twp., passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2016 in her home. Born in Norristown, she was the daughter of the late James and Rose (Marant) Cottrell. Nickie was the beloved wife of John F. McAuliffe with whom she shared 18 years of marriage. She was predeceased by husband Earl J. Orth. She was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother (Grandmere) and enjoyed spending time with all of her loving family. The family has so many fond memories of their time with Nickie and will cherish them always. Nickie was the original owner and operator of the first Auntie Anne's in the Allentown Farmers Market and managed it for years. She was an undergraduate of Gwynned - Mercy College and Cedar Crest College and earned her Master's in Education from Lehigh University. She was an educator for many years working in institutions such as Northampton Area Community College, Lehigh County Community College and DeSales University. Her greatest joy was watching her grandchildren grow and sharing in their many accomplishments. Nickie's children are eternally grateful to her for the most precious gift she bestowed on them, a legacy of Christian faith that she helped to instill and build into each one of their lives. Survivors: In addition to her loving husband, John; son, Eric Orth and wife Jennifer of New Tripoli; daughters, Allison Trexler and husband Donald of Plano, Texas, Jennifer Snyder of Bethlehem Twp.; brother, James Cottrell and wife Julia of Plymouth Meeting; sisters, Jewel Ann Jenkins of Telford, Rose Douglass of Kennett Square; 10 grandchildren; 1 great grandson.
