Alice J. Hofacker
Alice J. Hofacker, 93, passed away into eternal life October 5, 2012. She and her late husband of 65 years, Charles W. Hofacker, formerly of Upper Montclair, NJ, resided most recently in S. Whitehall Township. Prior to Montclair, NJ they resided in Jacksonville, FL. At the time of her passing she was residing at Mountain View - Above and Beyond - Assisted Living Facility in Allentown. Born in Newark, NJ, daughter of Margaret and John Francis McConnell, Alice was a graduate of Gibbs Business School, became an executive secretary at Prudential Ins. Co. and later a school secretary and volunteer. She was a long-time member of St. Thomas More Church in Allentown, PA and the Prime Time Club. Among interests were: reading, playing cards, crosswords, baking, gardening, big-band music, needlework, including knitting hats and booties for newborns, and watching her favorite EWTN and the Philadelphia Phillies. Survivors: Daughter, Joan K. Mantore; son-in-law, Ernest Mantore Jr.; grandchildren, E. Thomas Mantore III and wife Diana, Monica E. Mantore; great-grandson, Jaden J. Tillett; sister-in-law, Jeanne Hofacker and cousin, Andrew Zahn. Predeceased by her sister, Mary M. Miller, brother-in laws, Stanley Miller and Edward Hofacker. Services: Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m., Friday, October 12 in St. Thomas More Church 1040 Flexer Ave., Allentown, PA, officiated by Pastor, Msgr. John Murphy. Call 10:30 to 11 a.m. in church. Arrangements by Robert C. Weir Funeral Home, Allentown. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Wescosville PA.
