Ann Vaughey Young

Young, Ann VaugheyAnn Vaughey Young, 85, died Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at her home in Allentown. Born in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late T. Alexander and Harriet (Springhorn) Vaughey. She graduated from Evanston Township High School and Northwestern University. She worked as a model in Chicago and in Akron, OH, before moving to the Lehigh Valley in the early 1950s. She was the widow of Richard E. "Dick" Young, who passed away in 2006. The couple resided at the Crossroads Farm in Zionsville for more than 50 years. Ann was a founding member of the Guild of the Lehigh County Historical Society and was an active member until the Guild's dissolution. She was a member of the Book Club of Allentown, serving as its president in the late 1980s and early 1990s. She was a member of the Fortnightly since the 1960s and served as its president from 1999. She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Survivors: Ann and Dick had 3 children; David Edward Young husband of Sandra of Center Valley, Edward Vaughey Young who died April 20, 1990 and Janet Alexandra Young of South Fallsburg, NY. She is also survived by her grandsons, Alex and Jack. Services: Funeral Mass 11:00AM Friday in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1040 Flexer Ave., Allentown, PA 18103.
