Betty L. Hamm
Betty L. (Mertz) Hamm, 89, formerly of Orefield, died Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Lehigh Center, Lower Macungie Township. She was the wife of the late Willard N. Hamm. Born in Lehighton, November 20, 1923, Betty was the daughter of the late Amandus O. and Verna A. (Bryfogle) Mertz. She and her late husband Willard owned and operated the former Hamms Service & Auto Parts in Orefield for 24 years before retiring in 1982. Prior to that, they owned the former Hamms Service Station on Union Blvd. in Allentown for six years. Betty was a member of Jordan Evangelical Lutheran Church, Orefield. Survivors:

Mertz and his wife, Lois, of Palmerton; step grandchildren, Deborah Long, Erik and Jason Bowman; step great-grandchildren, Chadd, Trey and Dylan Long and Michael Bowman; step great-great-grandchildren, Jesse Long. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2013, in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville, with the Rev. Jimmy Lee Werley officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown.
