Edward W. Vogel, 90, of Bethlehem, died on Friday, January 18, 2013. Born in Bethlehem on February 5, 1922, he was the son of the late Frederick and Lydia (Papp) Vogel. He was the loving husband of the late Mary (Rosko) Vogel who died in 1998. Ed was employed by the Bethlehem Steel as a machinist in the #2 Machine Shop for 42 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of Ss Simon and Jude Catholic Church and of the former St. John Capistrano Catholic Church, where he served as an officer in the Holy Name Society, and was an officer of the Hungarian Catholic Club. He was a member of the Bethlehem MORA Club. He was a US Navy Veteran having served during WWII and a plank owner of the USS Randolph. Ed was an accomplished trumpet player who played with various bands including the Esquires and the Five Jars of Jam. Survivors: He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Ed Jr. of Bethlehem; daughter, Marie, wife of Frank Adamcik of Allentown; grandchildren, Mark, Christopher, Michael and Nicholas Adamcik; great-grandchildren, Zeven, Zachary, Kaitlin, Joshua and Dana Adamcik; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Fritz, Joseph and Emanuel; and sisters, Elizabeth Busick and Helen Houston. Services: An 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 23 in the Ss Simon and Jude Church, 730 W. Broad St., Bethlehem. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
