Esther Gaber

Esther Feinberg Gaber
Esther Feinberg Gaber, age 93, of Bethlehem, PA passed away on October 17, 2013. Esther will be dearly missed by many people who came to know and love her. She followed her mothers advice that all women should be active in doing good and was always deeply involved in the Bloomington, IN community, where she lived for many years. She supported the local Hillel before the Jewish community had its own Temple; she was a key figure in the organization of a new Hadassah chapter in Bloomington which became a thriving center for womens leadership, companionship and study. Esther was on the Board of Planned Parenthood, worked for the League of Women Voters and the Bloomington Hospital Group. In 2004 she was honored as one of Bloomingtons most influential women. She was an extraordinary cook, avid book reader and brutalizing scrabble player. Esther was married to George Gaber (deceased) who was a professor emeritus of the Indiana University school of Music. Survivors: Esther is survived by her daughter, Deborah; her son, Robert; her daughters-in-law, Susan Smith and Patricia Murzyn; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Services: Will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 21, 2013, at Congregation Beth Shalom, Bloomington, IN. Contributions: In lieu of sending flowers, the family asks that if you want to honor her memory, donations be made to Temple Beth Shalom, 3750 East Third Street, Bloomington, IN.
