Geraldine Schonfeld, nee Platsky, 93, of Wilkes-Barre, PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was married to the late Harold Schonfeld for over 35 years. She was born and remained in Wilkes-Barre, PA all her life. Even though her ambition was to be a wife, mother, and grandmother, which she successfully accomplished, she was quite adept academically and operated multiple dry goods stores during World War II when the owners were drafted. She was also an accomplished artist who preferred the medium of pastel to work. Her skills at knitting, crocheting and dressmaking provided her with a second career even into her late 70s. Survivors: She is survived by her children, Marlene Schonfeld and Toni Passikoff of Wilkes-Barre, and Ivan and Jillian Schonfeld of Allentown. She was the proud grandmother of 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Services: 11 AM Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Workman's Circle Cemetery in Dallas, PA. Arrangements by Rosenberg's Funeral Chapel, Wilkes-Barre. Contributions: Shiva will be observed at the Schonfeld home, 3802 W. Highland St., Allentown. Evening services will take place on Sunday and Monday at 7 PM at the Schonfeld residence. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested in her memory to Temple Beth El or to a worthy cause of one's choice.
