Harland Remaly
Harland R. Remaly, 93 of Slatington died Saturday December 28, 2013 in Forsythe Medical Center, Winston-Salem, NC while visiting his family. He was the husband of the late Verna A. (Scheirer) Remaly, who died in 2006. Born in Slatington, he was the son of the late Raymond and Florence (Daniels) Remaly. He served in the US Army from 1942-1946 during WWII. Harland owned and operated Remaly Coal & Oil from 1961 to 1985 before retiring. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 16, the Slatington Skeet Club, the Emerald Fire Co, Vigilante Fire Co., Walnutport VFW, Blue Mountain Fish & Game, Copeechan Fish & Game Club, Slatington Masonic Lodge #440, the NRA Legion of Honor, and was also a Paul Harris Fellow. He served as Past Commander of the Slatington Legion Post 16, and served on consistory and was a deacon at St. Johns UCC, Slatington. In his earlier years, Harland also enjoyed hunting and bowling. Survivors: Daughters; Jacqueline and husband John Parry of Slatington, Sheila and husband Charles Lemasters of Tobaccoville, NC; granddaughters, Tina wife of Larry Rehrig of Rural Hall, NC, Nichole wife of Richard Terfinko of Northampton; great-grandsons, Logan and Devon Rehrig of NC;step-great-grandson, Rich Terfinko, Jr.; niece, Rhonda wife of Rich Frantz. He was pre-deceased by sisters, Lois Minnich, and Ruth Davies. Services: 3 p.m. Thursday January 2, 2014 Harding Funeral Home 25-27 N. Second St, Slatington. Calling hour 2-3 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment to follow with military honors at Union Cemetery, Slatington.
