Harvey R. Sonny Whitey Thompson, 79, of Northampton, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013, in L. V. Hospital Hospice Unit, Allentown. Born in Wescosville, he was the son of the late Harold and Mrytle (Faschnaut) Thompson. Harvey was the loving husband of Carol (Strohl) Thompson. The couple celebrated 39 years of marriage in April, 2013. He served his country honorably in the Air Force during the Korean War. Harvey was a maintenance manager for Louis Epstein and later Quintet and Filter Fresh, Allentown for over 30 years before retiring. Following retirement, he did deliveries for Tri-City Dental, Slatington. He was an avid pool player for the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Allentown. Harvey enjoyed gambling at the Downs, Allentown and at the Sands, Bethlehem. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Carol; son, Harvey Thompson, Jr. of Whitehall; daughters, Stacy R. Mahar and husband, Martin, of Slatington, Pamela Thompson of Lansdale; brothers, Elwood and wife, Pat, of Whitehall, Harold and wife, Helen, of Nazareth; sisters, Shirley Kemmerer of Allentown, Sandra Guido and husband, Sam, of Slatington; five grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and his dog and pal, Harley. He was predeceased by sons, Nelson and Bryan; sister, Violet Behler. Services: Viewing 9 to 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 21, 2013, in the K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, Inc., 46 E. Susquehanna St., Allentown, followed by a 10:30 a.m. service. Contributions: Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the , 3893 Alder Place, Bethlehem, PA 18017.
