James A. Fernald, 84, of Allentown, formerly of Melbourne, FL, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013 in the In-Patient Hospice Unit of Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Frances (Manning) Fernald. Born in Stratford, CT, he was a son of the late Henry L. and Alfreda (Grundy) Fernald. James was salesman for AE Martell Co., Keene, NH for 25 years. Later, he owned Fernald Business System Forms in Bethlehem for 10 years before retiring in 1985. James was a Carpenters Mate with the US Navy
during World War II
and served in the Pacific. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in New England. He was an assistant Volunteer Fire Chief for Hanover Twp., Northampton Co. James enjoyed going deep sea fishing, repairing antique clocks and weekly clambakes. Survivors:
Sons, James A. Fernald, Jr. of Dayton, OH, William A. Fernald and his wife Audrey J. of So. Whitehall Twp.; daughter, Debra A. Fernald and her companion Sunil Gauba of Allentown; brother, Alfred Fernald of Stratford, CT; sister, Alice McFarland and her husband Elton of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Lauren A. Fernald, Lindsey A. Fernald. James was also survived by nieces and nephews. Services:
