James E. Gold
James E. Gold, 96, of Bethlehem passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2012, at St. Lukes Hospice House. He was the husband of the late Clevia M. (Shannon) Gold, who died in 1984. Born in West Philadelphia, he was the son of the late James and Florence (Moyer) Gold. He was a 1938 graduate of Penn State University, and became a chemist at Bethlehem Steel. He was later the Chief Safety Engineer at Homer Research Labs, retiring in 1981 after 40 years of service. James was a former Judge of Elections in the ward voting in the Governor Wolf school, and was an active member of the Pennsylvania Jazz Society. He was also an avid organic gardener and a student of financial markets. James was a charter member of East Hills Moravian Church. He enjoyed having breakfast with his friends at the Valley Restaurant. Survivors: Sons, James A. Gold and his wife, Molly Mullett-Gold of Buffalo, NY, Richard B. Dick Gold and his wife, Carol of State College, John S. Gold and his wife, Sharon of Easton; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Janet Gold. Services: Funeral Services will be held at Noon, Saturday, November 3, in the Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden Street, Bethlehem 18018, where friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of services.
