Haggerty Sr., James V.
James V. Haggerty Sr. 83, of Allentown, formerly of 313 N. Irving St., passed away on Monday April 14, 2014. Jim was the husband of the late Katherine M. "Kay" (Laffin) Haggerty who died in 2006. Born in Wilkes Barre, Jim was a son of the late James M. and Mary M. (Arny) Haggerty. Jim worked as a Metal Lather for Dugan & Marcon in Allentown for 35 years prior to retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Lehigh Valley Carpenter's Local # 600, and the International Brotherhood of Wood, Wire, & Metal Lathers. Jim was a member of Our lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Allentown where for fifteen years he was the Scoutmaster of the OLHC Troop #39. Jim's passions included; working with leather, Notre Dame Athletics, the Phillies, and the Eagles. Jim proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War
. Prior to his war service he was a pitcher in the Philadelphia Phillies Farm League. Survivors: Surviving are his sons; James V. Jr. and spouse Helen, their children; Melissa & Elizabeth of Lambertville, NJ, Michael L. and spouse Karry, their children Michael Jr. & Emily of Whitehall. Daughters; Anne M. Haggerty of Lower Macungie, and Kathleen M. wife of John Hamma and their children; Kaitlin, Matthew, and Lauren of Haymarket, VA. Brothers; Eugene in Florida, and Thomas in Bethlehem. Jim was predeceased by his grandson James V. III. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday April 22, 2014 at 10:00 am in Our Lady Help of Christians. Calling hours will be on Monday April 21, from 6:00-8:00 pm and on Tuesday from 8:30-9:40 am in the O'Donnell Funeral Home, 908 Hanover Ave. Allentown.
