John N. Tobin
John N. Mickey Tobin, 90, formerly of Fountain Hill, died on Monday, March 18, 2013, in Gracedale Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Ann Florence (Boyle) Tobin, who died in 1992. Born in Mauch Chunk, he was the son of the late Matthew and Gertrude (Sheridan) Tobin. He was a graduate of Mauch Chunk Catholic High School, and a 1950 graduate of Seton Hall University, where he was an English major. He honorably served his country with the US Army Air Corps during World War II in the Battle of the Bulge, and helped liberate three death camps. John worked for Bethlehem Steel in sales for many years before retiring in 1982. He was a member of St. Ursula Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society of the church, and was a CYO Parish Rep. He also was a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, Trinity Council #313, and a past Grand Knight, The MORA Club, and its Chorus, the Fountain Hill Exchange Club, and the Fountain Hill American Legion, Post 406, where he served on the Board of Directors. Survivors: Sons, John and his wife Dawn, Hugh and his wife Debbie and Matthew, all of Bethlehem; grandsons, Michael and Christopher; sister, Mary Apgar and husband Clark, of Emmaus. He was predeceased by sister, Hannah. Services: Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, March 21, 2013, in St. Ursula Catholic Church, 1300 Broadway Fountain Hill. Family and friends are invited to call 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 20, and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., Thursday, March 21, both in Cantelmi Funeral Home, 1311 Broadway, Fountain Hill.
