Joseph B. Cosenza Sr.
Joseph B. Cosenza Sr., 80, of Moore Township, formerly of Easton and Martins Creek, PA, died Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. Born in Martins Creek, PA, he was the son of the late Luigi and Rosa Boniventura Cosenza. He was the husband of the late Betty Powell, who died in 1986. He was a graduate of Easton High School, Class of 1951, Penn State University
and Temple University. He was a veteran of the Korean War
, serving in the US Army
from 1953 to 1955. He worked in the maintenance department of the Easton Area School District, and then advanced to a school teacher
position at the Eastern Northampton County Vo-Tech School, now C.I.T., retiring in 1996. His career in the district was 40+ years. He was a member of St. Anthonys Roman Catholic Church, Easton, PA. He loved the great outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and making wine. He was an avid antiques collector and enjoyed most sports, especially all Easton High School Athletics. He was a member of the Easton Area Schoolmens Assoc., the Citizens Hose Company, Wilson Borough Repulican Club, Holy Family Club, Young Republican Club of Easton, Vigilance Hose Company #1 and Lower Mt. Bethel Democratic Club. Survivors:
Surviving are, sons, Joseph B. Jr., Bethlehem, PA, and Louis A., Palmer Twp.; daughters, Cathleen Cosenza, Nazareth, and Diana, wife of Harvey A. J. Hopkins, Omaha, NE; fiancee, Maryann Marzuoli; sisters, Filomena Mendolera, Streetsboro, OH, and Louise Kuhn, Forks Twp.; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by brothers, Anthony (Tony), John, and Johnny; and sister, Lucy Brooks. Services:
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. at the James J. Palmeri Funeral Home, 6602 Alpha Ave., Martins Creek, followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Roccos Roman Catholic Church, 6658 School St., Martins Creek, PA.
