Joseph (Rocky) Kochan, 86, of Allentown died Friday, January 25, 2013. Joe was the loving husband of Dorothy (Hanna) Kochan for the past 67 years. Born March 7, 1926 in Northampton, he was a son of the late Anthony and Xenia (Salasky) Kochan. He served in the CCCs helping to build Arlington National Cemetery before serving in the Navy during WW II. He was employed at Chicken Land, known as Joe the Chicken Man, and at the Lehigh Valley Dairy for over 25 years until his retirement in 1987. He also served as a crossing guard in Allentown, where he was honored as Crossing Guard of the Year. Joe was a member of St. Paul Orthodox Church in Emmaus. He was past president and board member of St. George Orthodox Church, Allentown where he also sang in the choir. He had also been extremely active in the Alton Park Youth League, where he was a board member, coached football, midget and knee-high baseball for many years. Survivors: Wife, Dorothy; loving children, Diane Yacoub and her late husband, Ken, Thomas and wife, Kathleen, Joseph and wife, Gail; grandchildren, Natalie, Christina, Jason, Jessica, Jeffrey, Amanda, Matthew, and Sara; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Christopher, Alexander, Ashleigh, Drew, Clayton, Cassenia, Gregory, and Cole. Joe was predeceased by five brothers, Basil, Michael, John, Steven, and Daniel Kochan; and two sisters, Marie Messineo and Ann Newmark. Services: Viewing on Monday evening, January 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Nicos C. Elias Funeral Home, 1227 W. Hamilton St., Allentown.
