Joseph M. Schlachter
Joseph M. Schlachter, 85, of Lower Macungie Twp., passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2013, in his home. He was the husband of Kathryn (Mathews) Schlachter. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Joseph and Sophie (Gastel) Schlachter. Joseph was a mechanical engineer with several companies in Connecticut over his 45-year career prior to his retirement. He served in the Navy and was a member of St. Anns Catholic Church, Emmaus, where he was a former usher. Joseph was a 1946 graduate of Central Catholic High School, Allentown and graduated college in Connecticut. Survivors:
Wife; stepchildren, Michael Lichman and his wife, Christine, Bernadette Lichman, Sharon Ulicny and her husband, Paul, Yvonne Cardamone and her husband, Ralph, Matthew Lichman and his wife, Janna, Cynthia Joyner and her husband, Eric, Timothy Lichman and his wife, Melissa, Joseph Lichman and his wife, Karen, and Mary Jane Beck and her husband, James; sister, Loretta Gulla; 23 stepgrandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Anne (Larkins) Schlachter; stepdaughter, Kathryn Lichman; and a step-great-grandson, Matthew Lichman. Services:
12:45 p.m., Saturday, at Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm Street, Emmaus, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 1:30 p.m., at St. Anns Catholic Church, 415 S. 6th Street, Emmaus. Viewing Saturday, 11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will take place Tuesday, December 31, at 10 a.m., at Calvary Cemetery, Emmaus. Contributions:
