Joseph P. Slifer, Jr., 92 of Macungie passed away, Monday, January 21, 2013, in Lehigh Center. He was born in Olean, NY a son of the late Joseph P. Sr. and Flora (Scearce) Slifer. He worked for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board for many years. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Allentown. A WWII veteran he served in the Battle of the Bulge with his twin brother, Jack, where he received a Bronze Star. Survivors: Sister, Christine Bachman of Breinigsville; companion, Margaret Fogel of Bethlehem; several nieces and nephews. A sister, Dorothy Hershman, and brother, Jack Slifer, predeceased him. Services: 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 23, 2013, Redeemer Lutheran Church 822, North 19th St., Allentown, PA. Burial with military honors will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Allentown.
