Mary J. Egge, 98, formerly of Coopersburg, passed away Friday, January 4, 2013 in Phoebe Home, Richlandtown. She was the wife of the late Alfred J. Egge. Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Mary (Bacho) Balint. Mary was a care-giver at the Good Shepherd Childrens Home in Coopersburg for five years before retiring in 1973. Previously, she worked at Forte Neckwear and Hilltop Manufacturing for a total of 23 years. She was a member of Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church, Center Valley. As a hobby, Mrs. Egge raised and bred toy poodles. Survivors: Son, Gary J. Egge of Salem, NH; daughter, Joan E. Stauffer and her husband Franklin O. of Coopersburg; grandchildren, Amy Diehl and her husband Scott of Coopersburg, Scott Stauffer and his wife Deb of Coopersburg, Bryan Egge of Boston, MA; great-grandchildren, Nathan Diehl, Megan Diehl, Alex Stauffer, Allison Stauffer. Mary is also survived by nieces and nephews, and was predeceased by three sisters and one brother. Services: 1 p.m., Monday, Stephens Funeral Home, Inc., 1335-37 Linden St., Allentown, PA 18102.
