Mary T. Shannon, 86, of Bethlehem, died on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at St. Lukes University Hospital, in Fountain Hill. She was the loving wife of the late Edward E. Shannon, Sr., who died in 1989. Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary (Balent) Posivak. Mary was a member of the former Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, now Incarnation of Our Lord Parish, where she was very active, and enjoyed volunteering as a noodle maker. She was also active with the Ladies PA Slovak Catholic Union Branch 83, where she served as president, and the Slovak Tatra Group. She was a volunteer at Musikfest for 20 years and had also volunteered at Chriskindlemart for 10 years. Besides spending time with her family, Mary enjoyed woodworking, quilting and baking. Surviving: She will be lovingly remembered by her children, James and his wife Beth of Northampton, Michael and his wife Annette of Wallingford, CT, Patrick and his wife Michelle of Bethlehem, Patricia Kessler and her husband Greg of Myerstown; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Frank Posivak and his wife Peggy of Coopersburg. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Edward E. Jr. and brother, Stephen. Services: Family and friends are invited to call 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, February 14, at Cantelmi Funeral Home, 1311 Broadway, Fountain Hill and 9 to 10 a.m., Friday, February 15 at Incarnation of Our Lord Parish followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Her burial will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
